TV Micro Remote Stopped Working

November 2, 2007

I got a Miglia TV Micro for Christmas last year and it has been nice being able to watch TV while working on my computer. The TV Micro came with a remote control which either due to updating to Leopard or Elgato Systems update to it’s Eye TV software has quit working. Elgato Systems and Miglia’s agreement to ship Eye TV software with Miglia hardware ended recently so that may have something to do with it but Elgato should still support current Miglia customers. I’m not sure where the problem is but I hope it gets straightened out soon.

I am going to contact Miglia support and will add a comment with their response when I get it.

I still haven’t heard back from them?

I also have the same problem. Please let us know if you have heard something from Miglia.

Well I have sent Miglia a tech support contact about the issue. If they get back to me I will let you know.

On the Elgato EyeTV forums commenters on this issue seem to think it was from upgrading to Leopard but I believe it was the update to EyeTV 2.5.1 that caused the remote to stop working? I could be wrong? Any thoughts?

On the Miglia site they have this to say–
“Q: My remote control does not work when I’m using the TV software with Mac OS X 10.5
A: This is a known issue that has been reported to Elgato, the makers of the software that shipped with TVMicro. Until this issue is fixed, please use the Apple remote if your Mac has IR capability.”

I received an email from Miglia support on Dec. 1st and they said “We’re working with Elgato on fixing the problem.”. They also provided a download of a beta version of EyeTV software that fixed part of the remote issue. The up and down channel and volume buttons work but the number pad for channel input doesn’t work. I haven’t checked all of the other buttons. I would expect that they will be releasing the regular update version soon.

  8. JBH Says:

Same problem here. You can change channels by using your number key pad on your keyboard.

I received an email from Miglia support asking me to shut down EyeTV and reopen to try the remote again and see if it works. He said in his testing the number keys were working. I had shut it down and opened it before but I did it and it works now? You do have to be IN the EyeTV application to use the remote but the number keys weren’t working before? Oh well they work now.

Note: This is the beta software they sent me not the current regular release version.

Well they have updated EyeTV and now my remote works!
